Distraction

Medium: Wasted electronic devices on wall

Size: 6' x 7' x 16"

This installation explores the tension between humanity and technology. As we become more dependent on technological devices we may be losing a part of ourselves and there is no turning back.

Chrysalis

Medium: Clay, gauze hang from ceiling

Size: 16" x 26" x 10"

This sculpture of chrysalis represents confusion. Constructed from clay and gauze, I was interested in the form as a way of expressing mental mechanisms and the interaction of emotions. The chrysalis is struggling now, but eventually becomes a beautiful butterfly.

Music Hall-Wilkins

Balsa wood, moss, tree branches on plywood board

12" x 24" x 11"

I chose to create the structure of a music hall because I am interested in creating spaces for music appreciation and stage design. I want to create an environment that is stable but also open to the outside world. Triangles were inspired by the tent where I stayed in as a child, which gives me a sense of security. The music hall is settled in a park because nature always brings inspiration.
